I made a couple of new things specifically for PIF listings. Is that weird? I dunno.. maybe. It's like.. I've been making so many new things lately, but I don't really want to sell them. I'm getting fed up with selling super cheap stuff only to deal with cranky old customers who give me bad addresses and still have the nerve to be "disappointed" (I'll expand on this later. I'm still waiting for it to unfold.) So I thought.. hey, why not just give it away and make somebody else happy, right? I just don't have that much money to spare on shipping (Canada Post rates are ridiculous), so if you pay for the shipping, I'll give you the goods. I have a couple listed up on my Etsy. Grab them now before I run out! Oh, and I know I said only 1 PIF listing per order, but feel free to get both (if they're still both up. If not, just wait a minute and I'll probably relist it again). Just let me know that you came from LJ, otherwise I'm gonna think you're some greedy bitch and secretly wish you eternal suffering.
These are what I've been working on recently. Now at a Peach Block near you!
Zach and I also just came back from a pretty exciting mini vacation in Toronto. You can catch some of our pictures on my personal LJ at: http://skybelow.livejournal.com/2461.html
The amazingly nice and beautiful Shelby from Glitterful Felt Stories did a super sweet review of her custom-made mini cupcake necklace and bracelet set from Peach Block.
GO READ. You have to! It's not like any other review. Once you scroll down and reach the video of the unbelievably adorable Ella, you will cry from the cuteness. She's like a doll that I want to decorate with more Peach Block accessories :)
Feel free to add me if you think you're up for some.. personal.. writing stuff.. (as opposed to Peach-Block-sales-related writing stuff). I don't want to bog this journal down with irrelevant posts especially for the people who added this lj for the sole purpose of keeping up with sales updates and such. You know what I mean. Peach on Earth!
Hope you all had a super Halloween! It was my first year living in a real house, thus first time handing out candies.
I thought maybe we had too much candy, but I underestimated how many kids we had in the neighborhood! I think.. next year, I'm going to wear a costume with a mask and I'm totally trick or treating too. I'm so short and tiny that no one will even notice that I'm actually 24 under that costume :P I probably won't do it, but I'm temped. I never really got to trick or treat when I was younger.
I was a purple fairy this year. It was unbelievably fun being a fairy :D Until I took my wings and sleeves off near the end of the night, and then it looked like I was wearing some sort of a skimpy teddy, which maybe made the older (teenager-ish) boy trick or treaters stutter awkwardly.
$20 on Etsy 10-20 individual pieces: more than $100 in actual value if sold separately
I had a ton of fun putting these together. They're all expired listings from my shop that I never relisted for this particular purpose. I always receive emails about grab bags and if I still sell them, so I thought this would be the perfect way to bring back an old customer favorite. They're also great if you want to treat a friend (or yourself) to a little surprise package :)
So, I haven't gotten bad feedback from Etsy yet, except for this one neutral feedback about the chain being "too short" on a necklace. I thought it was a pretty dumb feedback since the product listing actually said "The chain is 16 inches in length". I mean, it couldn't be simpler, honestly. The buyer just needed to actually read.
So anyway, I knew I could have *nicely* explained the situation to the buyer and asked if they could find it in their heart to change their feedback because it's important to me. But... I honestly just couldn't care less, and I sure as hell didn't feel like being nice and begging her to change her mind.
So! I sent her a message saying:
Hi! I'm sorry the donut necklace chain was too short for you, but the product listing specifically noted the length of the chain. Therefore, it had nothing to do with me being a bad seller that warrants less than a positive feedback. I'm afraid it was just bad judgment of your own neck size on your part. I just wanted to mention this so that in the future, you might learn to read the entire item description first before buying or possibly thinking before you leave feedback for other sellers.
Okay, so maybe the "bad judgement of your own neck size" might have been a little mean, but I really was just being honest. If you're going to do intelligent adult stuff like buy items from the Internet, you should also make sure to follow through with intelligent adult skills such as reading and thinking about what you're actually saying before your say it.
Anyway, nearly a month later, she finally replied:
ok relax. i was just replying to what i thought - my bf, "ellaphant" bought it for me. he didn't tell me that it had length chain listings. im sorry if i was rude, but it'd be nice if you didn't send back comments like that. and maybe it was the first time that he's bought from etsy.
The bad grammar and punctuation tells me that it's not even worth the trouble to further carry the argument. Maybe it was his first time on Etsy, but was it his first time to engage in a sale? Maybe he doesn't like to read? Maybe he just likes to look at pictures? Maybe don't blame it on your boyfriend since you were the one who doesn't know how to leave proper feedback? And seriously... it'd be nice if I didn't "send back comments like that"? What *would* be nice is if you weren't an idiot and I wouldn't even have to send back comments like that. Plus, it wasn't even that mean. I just informed her of her mistake and advised her for the next time she (or her boyfriend) decides to purchase something from another seller. I mean... geez, why so defensive? At least have the decency to admit (or fix) your mistake instead of whining about the consequences.
Anyway. I guess I just wanted to vent. I was about ready to type a not-so-nice reply, but it wouldn't have led anywhere. I couldn't even decide on what to say.
1.) I'm sorry I hurt your feelings, but you screwed up my perfect feedback score. And you're not even sorry. 2.) With all of the 'I thoughts' and 'didn't knows' and 'maybes' you have, it's even more reason to check before leaving your feedback. Negative or neutral feedback effects my selling reputation as a whole, and I would appreciate if it was about more than someones inability to read. (<-- That one's from Zach) 3.) I hope you choke on your necklace. (haha, get it? cause it was too short..)
I finally made bread! And I couldn't resist making sandwiches with them.
I also made these cheeseburgers, but I think I was a bit absent minded when I was making them because I put the cheese before the burger, and I didn't put any sesame seeds on the bun. I personally hate sesame seeds, so maybe it was an unconscious thing. I'm currently giving them away to purchases of $25 or more (before shipping fees). I will gladly combine them with purchases made here from my LJ sales. Just comment on that post if you'd like to add anything from my Etsy shop, and I'll add it to your invoice.
I also just recently finished this custom breakfast charm bracelet, which I am quite happy with! The coffee, orange juice and jam was a challenge!
I'm currently working on cake trinket boxes, whipped cream+cherry hair clips/rings, and life-sized faux cupcakes. I'm not really sure what to do with faux cupcakes other than for decorating. Maybe to funk up the china cabinet...! Or something..
I've wanted to make trinket boxes for as long as I can remember, and I finally did. The second picture is blurry, but I like the shot. More pictures can be found at my Etsy shop.
Hey everyone! Just to let you know, I'm having a 20% off sale on EVERYTHING in my Etsy shop. This will last until Friday at midnight.
In other news, there's a minor delay concerning packages and custom orders that I still have to send out. I was trying to ride a bike FOR THE FIRST TIME... and I didn't fall or anything, but I somehow.. SOMEHOW... tore a muscle. So, I have pretty limited arm mobility right now and it freaking hurts like hell, but I'm hoping for a quick recovery so I can get back to Peach Blocking ASAP.
She's a little plain right now, but I hope to make the next ones a little more detailed and frilly. I just wanted to get a good technique down for moilding faces/bodies. Need more practice!
Also, thanks for your suggestions on my last post. I think I'm gonna have, like... an LJ garage sale soon. I need to get rid of a lot of my store-bought jewelry that I've never even worn. Every time I see something pretty, I just have to have it, and then I forget to wear it. I'm just happy that it's mine for a little bit until I get tired of it :/
If I start selling stuff on LJ again, would anyone be interested? Do people still buy from LJ? I know pretty much everyone has migrated to Etsy, but I don't know... It's just a thought since I was looking at my New Items/Sale Items headers on my journal and wondered if I'll ever use them again. Comments/input/insight are so welcome.
